WorkBC Catchment Maps

March 20, 2026 8:31 AM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

This week brought a number of developments that are important for our sector as a whole, whether you are directly involved in WorkBC services or engaged more broadly in community-based employment and social services.

The province released updated WorkBC catchment areas for the upcoming contracts. For many organizations, it has been challenging to fully understand how boundaries have shifted and what that may mean for future service delivery, partnerships, and planning. In response, ASPECT worked with the Ministry to obtain detailed maps to help bring greater clarity. Thank you to Assistant Deputy Minister Karen Blackman for quickly responding to our request. While these changes are most immediately relevant to WorkBC service providers, they also signal how services may be structured across communities in the coming years.

At this stage, there is still no confirmed timeline for the launch of the procurement process. As always, we will continue to share information as it becomes available.

Alongside these structural updates, there has also been significant leadership news. Deputy Minister Allison Bond will be stepping down from her role at the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction to become CEO of the Royal BC Museum. Many in our sector will recognize Allison as a key architect of the original Employment Program of BC and a longstanding leader in shaping employment services in this province.

Leadership transitions naturally bring questions about what comes next. While it is too early to know what this change may mean for upcoming procurement or broader ministry direction, it is also a reminder of the strong and enduring relationships that underpin our work. ASPECT’s collaboration with the Ministry remains solid, grounded in mutual respect and a shared commitment to building the scaffolding for thriving communities through employment and career development.

As always, we will stay closely connected to these developments and continue to keep you informed as the landscape evolves.
