Lots of Good News for the New Year!

Happy New Year!

I hope you had some time to relax over the holidays. I’m excited to share updates on several projects as we start the new year:

ASPECT Conference
November 13 & 14, 2025

We’re delighted to announce that this year’s conference will be held in a larger venue allowing us to welcome up to 350 delegates—30% more than last year. The expansion means we’ll offer three plenary sessions and 30 learning sessions.

A call for presenter proposals will open later this month, and extreme early bird registration starts in early February. We’re planning an event that will be educational and full of networking opportunities, both formal and informal. Mark your calendars for this fun and engaging experience!

National Career Certification

The National Career Certification program, launched on December 10, is off to a fantastic start. Over 500 legacy applications have been received, and over 130 people have signed up on the Career Certification website.

As a member of the National Credential Advisory Committee, I’m working alongside other BC representatives, Dr. Roberta Borgen (Life Strategies Ltd.) and Seanna Quressette (Douglas College), to support this initiative. Together with our colleagues across Canada, we’re helping to promote and educate CDPs about the program’s benefits for career development professionals. More info.

Learning & Coaching Sessions: CDP Practices & Principles

Interest is growing in our upcoming series of eight sessions designed to support CDPs across Canada. These affordable sessions provide high-quality learning experiences mapped directly to CDP competency framework and are eligible for educational credits toward National Career Certification.

Whether certified or looking to enhance your practice, this series offers practical tools and insights to help you excel at your work. Register now.

Federal Advocacy

As we ramp up for another federal election, I have sent a letter to the new Minister of Employment, Workforce Development, and Labour, Honourable Kevin MacKinnon, congratulating him on his appointment and requesting a meeting on behalf of the Canadian Coalition of Community-Based Employability Training (CCCBET).

CCCBET is also working on a meeting with ESDC departments and project leaders later this month to help inform upcoming briefing papers for the new minister and possible government changes after the federal election.

Thank you for staying connected. Let’s make 2025 a year of growth and collaboration!
